Kitchen Love

Very busy day today getting more ready for the Dreamers Markets, I'm excited because I am working on some new items for the markets that I will also be introducing into my etsy and madeit shops. I will show you more of these over the next couple of weeks.
I guess it's no secret that I love retro items for the home. Here is an illustration based on a mixer entitled " Happiness is Homemade!" I hope you like it, I have to admit these are some of my favourite colours...

My first Fabric Arrives!

Well I have to tell you it has been a long hard wait to recieve it, but it is finally here- my first fabric from Spoonflower! It felt like so long I was on the brink of contacting them to see if they thought it had got lost in the mail.

Note to self: Always order about 7- 8 weeks before you need the fabric.hmmm good tip

I am really pleased with the result. I ordered 4 swatches of different fabrics and now that I have seen it , held it and examined it I feel confident to order more. Now the next step is having time to do some designs. I have a lot of designs planned so I will allocate some time to this over the next month.

So it's from this on paper

To this on fabric...

The swatches arrived all joined together in a line!

My favourite is the camellia, oh no but I think I've caught the making fabric bug. More to come!

Special People

I am writing today about a couple who has a really special place in our hearts. Bob and Susan are a wonderful couple who recently came across to visit us from the USA but our friendship started way back in 2001. Back then Dave and I were on our own but so excited that we had just been allocated with our beautiful Jasmin from Taiwan. Bob and Susan were expats living in Taiwan at the time. They were fostering some of the babies out as their families went through the adoption process. So Bob and Susan came to foster our Jaz and took the most beautiful care of her. They loved her and nurtured her for what became an extended amount of time. When we were finally allowed to pick her up we came to stay with Bob and Susan in their apartment. They are just amazing people!

Since then every 3 years Bob & Susan, now living back in the US come over to visit. We always have such a fun time- a lot of laughter and catching up. Here are some of the photos from their recent visit. Bob & Susan - we miss you already!!!

Bob and Susan - sorry for the pici quality - it was a really dark resturant

Weekend Over Already!

This weekend is fast disappearing and I'm sad to see it go. It ended up being quite a relaxed time and I even managed to throw in a little art which is sometimes impossible with family commitments. I have been really busy during the week with getting prepared for the Dreamers Markets coming up so fast on September 1st in Parramatta. It's exciting to be adding some new items and I'll be sharing these in the weeks leading up to the market starting today with this print "Home Sweet Home"
I hope you enjoy it.
